Hosting a Green Sunday gives you another chance to Get Energized and get involved. Led by Pastor, Reverend Lynn Bruer, Grace Lutheran Church hosted the first Green Sunday Program on April 6th, and it was a great success!
Members of Grace Lutheran went a step further by taking the Get Energized pledge to reduce their carbon dioxide emissions, and used their free CFL (a thank you gift from CEC for taking the GE pledge) to replace the incandescent bulbs in the church’s library. By making this change, Grace Lutheran will be reducing their energy use in this room by over 85-percent!
Grace Lutheran Church is located at 3869 State St., Phone: 687-2628

When you decide to partner with CEC to host a Green Sunday, here’s some of the great benefits you can expect:
What CEC can do for your congregation:
- Distribute free compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs) to members of your congregation who take CEC’s Get Energized pledge to reduce their carbon footprint at www.GetEnergized.org. CEC will also provide information on future campaigns and incentives.
- Provide information on energy conservation and rebates for energy efficiency upgrades.
- Keep your members up-to-date with energy efficiency programs, as well as rebates and other energy-saving offers from the utilities—such as lamp exchanges, free holiday lights, refrigerator recycling, etc.
- Notify your members about environmental lectures, films, and other community events.
- Offer information on lectures and other events leading up to Earth Day.
- Provide guest lectures to your group about wind energy, solar energy, biofuels, hybrid vehicles and other components of Fossil Free by 2033—CEC’s bold action plan for moving our region away from fossil fuels within one generation.
- Help your facility manager arrange for an audit of your lighting, heating, or water heating systems.
- Keep your facility manager updated on utility programs that could save energy and money—such as energy efficiency floodlight and exit signs.
What your congregation can do to help CEC and help stop global warming:
- Get Energized and do something! Partner with CEC and host a Green Sunday at your church.
- Encourage your Congregation to have a booth at the Earth Day festival to showcase your church’s environmental practices.
